"Summer Love List" from Celeb Colorist Rita Hazan
August, for me, is the best month of summer with its long, sunny days, technicolor sunsets, and a welcome, subtle slowdown at work. Maybe it’s because my husband and I are both still largely connected to New York professionally (and New Yorkers vacation en masse this month) but our stress levels seem to downshift right about…now. We can finally play tennis at our pool club, take a long weekend up north, or just walk the dog together at dusk. Thus, even though we're rounding the bend to the end of the season, summer for me really starts in August. So all month long I'll be asking favorite beauty insiders to share their sunny-weather staples. First up: celebrity colorist Rita Hazan
Rita Hazan: celebrity colorist, salon owner and founder of an eponymous haircare collection
Rita is the go-to colorist for more celebrities than I can list here, but name-dropping Madonna, Beyonce and Jennifer Lopez should get your attention. She’s major. She also has her own salon on Fifth Avenue and her own product line. Rita blonded my hair for many years when we lived in New York, and she’s one of the most talented colorists I’ve encountered. I was especially excited when she agreed to share some of her summer picks because she’s got great taste. (She used to do my highlights while teetering around in Prada heels, and she triggered my obsession with Fresh’s Sake candle by burning it in her salon's bathroom for years.) Here, her four hot-weather must haves:
