More To Love

If you’re a regular reader, you know I’m a fan of Essie’s Treat Love & Color one-step nail lacquer. It goes on in a single coat, requires no base or top coats—and it strengthens weak (prone-to-peeling-and-breaking) nails in as little as a week. It’s also now available in two dozen new shades.

Last summer, I gushed about easy-to-wear neutral Good Lighting. I still think it's a terrific, goof-proof shade. But, from the 24 hues that recently hit shelves, I’m also loving:

Minimally Modest Everyday nail color does not get easier than this. This quick-drying sheer pink is the nail version of lipgloss. It adds a touch of shine and just a hint of pink to make your nails look groomed and healthy— with next-to-no effort.

A-Game This mauve-y rose cream provides opaque color sans streaks (yep, in just one coat). It’s a classic, confident, wear-anywhere color.

Right Hooked This putty-colored polish has more taupe than Good Lighting. But it's just as versatile and just as universally-flattering.

Mint Condition and Indi-go For It The former has a touch more green, the latter, a splash more blue. Both read dusty-blue-green on the nails—a pretty spring alternative if you're pink-averse. One caveat: I find both formulas do look better applied with two thin coats, rather than just one. Sheer pink=chic. But sheer blue=frostbite. A second coat makes the blue-green lacquer more opaque.
