Let's Act Like It Feels Like Spring
This week marked the official beginning of the new season. And though it still feels pretty wintery here in Michigan, when I went to get a manicure, I decided to trade in my navy Essie After School Boy Blazer and Chanel Pirate for something less moody from Essie’s new cheery spring collection.
Created in conjunction with designer Rebecca Minkoff, the collection was inspired by a road trip to Baja, California (which is actually in Mexico, of course): think beachy, casual and vivid. Although I was initially drawn to All the Wave, a bright blue (I do love a blue lacquer), and On The Roadie, kelly green, I think I will experiment with them on my toes once it’s warm enough for sandals. Instead I chose B’Aha Moment, a deep pink that reminds me of tulips.
It’s a universally-flattering color any skin tone can wear. And it’s a grownups shade of pink—not too Barbie. If you aren’t a bright-color-on-your-fingernails type, I also really like Essie’s new Dress Is More, also pink but super-pale (Essie calls it “white dusted with pink") that makes your nails look clean and healthy. Part of the new Spring “bridal” collection, it’s a classic that will appeal to anyone who likes Essie’s Mademoiselle or Sugar Daddy. It’s also a Gel Couture formula, so should last for up to two weeks.
Note: I've included links to my polish picks, below, but I noticed as I wrote this post, that they were close to selling out on essie.com. If they're all gone when you shop, try amazon.com—or your local or drugstore.
