Still Feeling Blue

Still Feeling Blue

I’ve already declared my devotion to denim-colored tips and toes. So it’s not surprising that my two favorite hues in Essie’s newest nail lacquer collections are blue too—albeit moodier, green-spiked takes on the tint.

Satin Sister (from Essie’s winter 2016 collection) is a deep teal, reminiscent of an angry Caribbean Sea (or for Michiganders, Glen Lake at dusk). It’s sexy and a tad edgy but still entirely office-appropriate.

Udon Know Me (from Essie’s fall 2016 collection) looks minty-sweet in the bottle, but on nails, it's more blue-green, beach rock. Surprisingly neutral, it's akin to a blue version of greige (Chanel Particuliere, Essie Mink Muffs), which was ubiquitous in 2010—and beloved for its neutrality.

So how do I plan to wear them? Satin Sister will adorn both my fingers and toes—or I'll try Udon Know Me on my fingers paired with Satin Sister on my toes. I also think Satin Sister would look glam topped with one coat of Jin Soon Top Coat in Bijou, which I first raved about here.
